Can Deskswap lose my files?

Deskswap only ever moves files, never deletes or overwrites them. Before the first file moves, every planned move is written to a journal. If your Mac quits halfway, the next launch finishes the swap before doing anything else.

Where do a desk's Desktop files go?

Into a folder of Deskswap's own, ~/Library/Application Support/Deskswap/Desktop files, so nothing extra ever shows on your Desktop. Each desk that swaps files gets its own folder there, and your normal files wait in one called original.

Will it quit an app with unsaved work?

No. Deskswap asks apps to quit politely, never force-quits, so an app with unsaved work can ask you first. If it's still open after 5 seconds, Deskswap tells you by name. It never quits Finder, or a screen recorder you have in front.

What does it need access to?

Your Desktop folder, to swap files. Full Disk Access, to turn Focus modes on directly; without it, Deskswap can run a Shortcut instead. Calendar and Reminders only when you add those widgets. It never needs Screen Recording.

Which Macs does it run on?

macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

Does it work with more than one display?

Yes. The curtain covers every display, and a desk can set one wallpaper for all of them or a different one for each.
